‘Masterus Makares.’ Aurora yelled out as she saw him laughing and distracted. A chain came out of her arm, speeding straight towards him but unfortunately, it ended in a knot as it hit him. At first, it looked like she was going to win this battle and in a quick gesture, she tried to grab the pendant, but Zeppi kept his cool and screamed, ‘Solvente’ and the chain that was wrapped around him, dissolved into water. He snatched the pendant, looked at Aurora, laughed again and shouted ‘Pekarus.’ A ball of fire shot out of his hand and travelled straight towards Aurora.

‘What’s happening, Mijka,’ were the first words that Aurora managed to murmur after many weeks.

‘You need to rest, Aurora,’ she replied in her usual calming voice.

‘I cannot, Mijka. Xohorus is in great danger. I need to talk to the Guard as soon as possible.’

‘The Guard is downstairs waiting for your recovery as it was he who found you in a comatose state at the entrance to Xohorus. What exactly took place? And do you know who it was that did this to you?’

‘Yes, dear Mijka. Now, call the Guard and Frigit as I need to tell you some bad news.’

Mijka did as told and in less than ten minutes, both Frigit and Artisan were standing next to her. They found her in a crying fit. Her heart was broken, and she still couldn’t believe all that was going on and what she had recently experienced. Besides, Aurora was terrified because she had no inkling of what her husband was up to.

‘What happened, Aurora, tell us.’

With a broken heart, she started to tell them what turned out to be a great shock for them. In a choking voice she said, ‘Frigit, I know that what I am about to say will hurt you, like it hurt me. Artisan, Xohorus is in great danger. The one you saw is a very potent magician. His power is so great that not even I could overwhelm it. And to top it all, he even managed to pinch my pendant by which I call my dragon. Without that pendant, I have no control over Melinder. Yet, you’ve heard nothing yet. The magician is nobody else but my Zeppi.’

It was Artisan who broke the silence. ‘Don’t get me wrong, Aurora, but I think you’re still delirious after your passing out. Listen to me, go and rest and we can talk again.’

’No, I’m not delirious at all, and I didn’t pass out. You found me lying there because Zeppi used his magic and threw a ball of fire at me. I am really horrified. I don’t know what he’s up to. All I know is that he could have killed me had he wanted to, and it is precisely what he told me. He said that with a gesture, he could destroy me.’

‘Aurora, he cannot destroy us as long as the dragon lives. Whoever it was, I cannot ever believe it is Zeppi,’ Frigit pointed out in an agitated state.
